We remain on restriction here at the camp, with the release date set for March 3rd. We’ve been told that the fires in California have disrupted the food chain, which might explain some of our meals. Breakfast has been reduced to two pieces of bread, stale cereal, and a piece of fruit.
This week, I’m starting Business Ethics, which I’m looking forward to. Our culinary class has not begun yet, but I was reminded that it’s an accredited college course—something I’m excited to dive into when it starts.
Books
This past week, I achieved a significant milestone: I finished reading the entire Old Testament! I also completed The Hand of God. One key takeaway from these readings is the importance of training ourselves to handle prosperity without pride and wealth without deceitfulness.
Additionally, I read:
Dr. No
The Smartest Money Book
Each of these has offered insights that I’m applying to my personal and spiritual growth.
Motivational
"Get comfortable with being uncomfortable."
— David Goggins
On your Comeback Journey, this phrase resonates deeply. Growth often comes in moments of discomfort. Embrace those moments—they’re shaping you for the better.
Devotional
Title: "You Cannot Add Time, But You Can Change the Quality of It"
Worry is a common obstacle on the Comeback Journey, but it serves no real purpose. Does worrying make you feel better? Does it help you move forward? No—it simply distorts time, making 10 minutes feel like an hour or a year feel like 10.
Christ posed a profound question in Matthew 6:27:
"Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Instead of wasting time worrying, focus on the quality of the time you have. Use it to grow, learn, and prepare for the blessings ahead.
Final Thought
Even in restriction, there are opportunities for growth. Let’s use this time to strengthen ourselves—physically, mentally, and spiritually—for the next chapter of our journey.
I am so sorry they are on the restrictions because of the fire and the food situation. Ray has the best attitude and that is what matters, it’s all about attitude and perspective. Sent with love from NYC Catherine
